Built here almost a millennium-and-a-half ago.  King Merewalh of Mercia established this Priory in about 680 AD. King Merewalh’s daughter Milburge was beatified – hailed as a saint. A pious place. An Anglo-Saxon monastery, or priory, features of interest here include a garden - with skilfully trimmed trees, hedges and shrubs, a chapter house, and a unique font decorated with 12th Century carvings.
