Description

This is a soap factory and museum. As you walk around the exhibits you get a feeling of what it must have been like living in Victorian England. Fascinating history and a beautiful experiment. You can park by the museum for free and walk round the pretty village, the museum also gives guided walks. Wonderfully historic place to visit to see how a Victorian industrialist/philanthropist, built his empire. There is a model village and a model of the worker’s village. The museum tells the story and the walk around the village illustrates it. Fantastic to see such a true landmark of certain time in British history. A museum that explains how the village came about. Explains everything from the Soap Factory, The War Memorial, the Hospital and The Theatre. A very informative visit. The museum and garden village is a unique and beautiful 19th century village created solely for the soap factory workers. The museum is packed with nostalgia. The museum explores the founding and development of the village from the working conditions. This is a beautiful model village.
