Huge numbers of visitors come into the church, mainly drawn by the story of the heroism of the people at the time of the plague. This is a 39-mile-long footpath walk designed to be enjoyed by all. Two villages devasted by plague in the 17th century. There are higher mountains, steeper tracks and greater walking challenges in other parts of Britain, but nowhere is the walking more lovely, relaxing, accessible.
