Description

A wonderful castle with a colourful history. It was built in the 1100s. The two noble families who owned this adapted it to suit their changing needs over a period of 500 years. The castle has a deep historic background. Good mix of ruins and intact structure. Within walking distance from the train which makes it an exciting adventure. Many interesting things to view. Painted ceiling is the biggest attraction in the house. Interesting with some ruined parts and some intact areas.  You can really climb around inside the ruins. The Castle itself is fantastic, a great day out with so much to see. Grounds are well maintained and the castle itself is beautiful. A great place to explore. Free parking at station right next to castle.
