Stunning example of Scottish History. A beautiful ruin of a once magnificent Palace. In awe to think all Kings and Queens walked these halls. The Royal Palace today lies roofless and ruined which is surrounded by a magic lake. The gates still inspire awe in visitors. The site was first occupied as far back as Roman times 2,000 years ago. It’s in a beautiful setting in the countryside in a small town. One of the highlights of the Palace is a recently restored fountain. The history, the architecture, and the surrounding town and Lake make this a great day out. Stunning views if you climb to the top of the palace. There are lots of passageways and rooms to explore and some interesting artefacts that have been found in the area. Great place to take the children. The Palace is one of the most beautiful places to visit in Scotland. The history alone is unique.
