On the shore, a sophisticated type of stone-built round house found only in Scotland. It has evidence of settlement spanning over 1000 years. This rare sculpture could date from the late of Iron Age or early historic period and may be associated with kingship and inauguration rites. A really interesting place to visit, highly photogenic and far older than anyone might imagine. Plan a little extra time to sit and think about how well-crafted the stone walls are. A beautiful site, that is exceptionally well maintained.
