Description

This is a rich archaeological heritage. Enjoy the stunning view of the island from the broches. View artefacts from the Iron Age on display in the visitor centre on site. The Iron Age village began between 500 BC to 200 BC. Beautiful place for visitors. The broch and the settlement are very well preserved, and you really get a feel for the place and the people that lived there. It would be helpful to read up about the history and what you can see, as the signposts only reveal basic information, and so many details and insights can be seen if you know what you're looking at, and what to look out for. This place is unique because you can explore the ruins of an Iron-Age stone fort. The tower in the centre still stands about 3 and a half metres tall. Wonderful Neolithic village.
