The barriers were built in World War II primarily as naval defences. Really interesting bridge connecting the small Islands. The Barriers are a series of four causeways in the Islands. The barriers are numbered from north to south. Great place of historical importance. There is a nearby airbase so you get to see planes take off occasionally.
